Building a Career Without Giving Up What you Love
Accounting, Music and Lifelong Learning
Becker Truster approaches life with curiosity, dedication, and a willingness to take on challenges—both in his professional career and personal passions. As an assurance senior staff member at Adams Brown’s Overland Park office, he believes success comes from continuous learning, hard work and a bit of daring.
“I’m always looking for something new to learn. If something piques my interest, I’ll dive in and absorb as much as I can—whether it’s an obscure historical topic or a new instrument to play.”
A Musician at Heart
Outside of his career, Becker’s true passion is music. An accomplished musician, he plays bassoon, saxophone and tuba with impressive skill—and can pick up almost any other instrument with ease (except the flute, which he jokingly admits to “hating”). Over the years, he has performed with the Hutchinson Symphony, the Kansas All-State Orchestra and even headlined shows at the Granada Theater in Lawrence and Boulevardia in Kansas City.
But for Becker, music is more than just performance—it’s about the magic that happens when everything clicks.
“There’s a moment in every performance where all the practice and rehearsal come together, and suddenly, you’re creating something bigger than yourself. That’s what keeps me coming back.”
A Love of Learning, In and Out of the Office
Becker doesn’t just challenge himself in his career—he’s a history buff who can spend hours reading biographies or diving into niche historical topics just for fun.
“I love understanding the bigger picture. It’s not just about collecting knowledge—it’s about seeing how things connect and shape the world around us.”
That same curiosity drives his success at Adams Brown. He’s constantly developing new skills and expanding his expertise with the help of experienced mentors.
Mentorship, Career Growth & Real Support
One of the biggest factors in Becker’s career growth has been the mentorship he’s received at Adams Brown.
“My manager, Skyler, has been a huge influence. He knows how to challenge me and push me in the right ways. And the firm gives me the resources I need to grow—whether it’s CPA exam study materials or academic reimbursements. I feel supported every step of the way.”
And that support doesn’t stop at his career. Adams Brown encourages employees to pursue their passions outside of work, whether it’s playing music, volunteering or being involved in the community.
“When I was living and working in Wichita, my entire audit team came to see a musical I was performing in. That kind of support really makes a difference.”
When asked what keeps him excited to come to work every day, Becker’s answer is simple:
“The love of learning, the drive to build a career for my family and the excitement of tackling something new every day.”
At Adams Brown, he’s found a place that values who he is—not just as an employee, but as a person.
