Melissa has been with Adams Brown since her beginnings as a staff accountant in 1990. Over the years, she climbed the ranks within the firm and today serves as a partner in ABBB’s Hays, Kansas office. In her current role, Melissa maintains a strong focus on performing audits for municipalities. She also works heavily with farming businesses and individuals, providing reliable tax and consulting services.
By age 12, Melissa knew that she wanted to enter the accounting profession for her future career. Her certainty was mainly due to her aptitude in math and interest in business. Today, as a 20-plus year accounting veteran, Melissa attributes her success to the strong work ethic she developed while growing up on her family’s farm. She also credits the encouragement she received from her parents to do whatever she wanted for her career.
Though she is not a teacher by trade, Melissa takes the leadership skills she has developed as an Adams Brown partner and regularly instructs fourth-grade faith formation classes for her church. In addition, each summer she and her family welcome a Larks collegiate league baseball player into their home for the season. As dedicated as she is to the success of her clients, Melissa is equally as committed to serving and strengthening the local community.
Melissa grew up just south of Oakley, Kansas and today resides in Hays. She and her husband, Darrell, have four children. The Romme family is particularly fond of the Hays community due to the excellent school systems and educational programs that regularly take place in town. While away from the office, Melissa’s hobbies include reading, golfing, riding horses and swimming. She also enjoys being involved in her children’s various sporting events and activities.
