Adams Brown, a leading regional CPA and business advisory firm, acquired Overland Park-based Kane, Mitchell and Co., LLC (KMC) effective December 1, 2021. All eight KMC team members joined Adams Brown with current shareholder, Curt Freking, CPA, joining as a principal.

Adams Brown and KMC have synergy in areas that matter most — providing clients with strategic business solutions and supporting desirable career growth for a diverse team.

“Being able to serve our clients in additional ways with the specialized service offerings of a larger firm is truly exciting,” said Freking, KMC principal. “Enhancing the ability for my team to grow and advance in their careers is another reason this acquisition is such a positive move.”

KMC was founded in 1996 and serves closely-held and family-owned businesses, trusts, and individuals. The firm has practice specialties that overlap cohesively with Adams Brown including the areas of construction and professional services companies.

“The combining of our firms will benefit our clients, our team and the Kansas City community,” said Adams Brown managing principal Brian Staats. “Current KMC clients will gain access to additional specialized solutions while our team gains experienced accounting professionals with specialties similar to ours.”

Adams Brown is the 144th largest CPA firm in the country according to Inside Public Accounting. The firm was named a Regional Leader and the 11th Fastest Growing Firm by Accounting Today earlier this year.

Headquartered in Wichita, Adams Brown serves 12 markets across Kansas and Arkansas. The merged practices will operate under the name AdamsBrown, LLC from the current Adams Brown office located at 10990 Quivira Road, Suite 160 in Overland Park.
