About the State of Idaho
Idaho is known for its natural beauty, including rugged mountains, vast forests and numerous rivers and lakes. Some of the most popular outdoor recreational activities in the state include skiing, hiking, fishing and hunting. The state’s economy is largely based on agriculture, including potato farming, as well as mining and lumber. Idaho is also home to several universities and colleges, including Boise State University and the University of Idaho.
Idaho is bordered by Montana to the east, Wyoming to the northeast, Utah to the south, Nevada to the southwest, Oregon to the west and Washington to the northwest. The state is nicknamed the “Gem State” due to the abundance of natural resources and precious gems found in the area.
